The Planning

Understanding and appreciating the Lego sets and pieces we have, we now embark on a 'town planning'  process to recreate our own original 1960s Lego town.

How do you build a Lego 'Town Plan' city? (Part 1)

We had discovered what was in the collection and now was the time to get building. But where to start? Our intention is to be as faithful as possible to the original instructions and/or artwork included in the Town Plan set and the other sets produced around the same era (1958 to 1962).

How do you build a Lego 'Town Plan' city? (Part 2)

In Part 1 we looked at what to build for our Lego town. In Part 2 we continue our plans. We have a whole city to build and two baseboards to fill. So on with the research...

How do you build a Lego 'Town Plan' city? (Part 3)

In Parts 1 and 2 we detailed the 11 buildings we had planned, from either the flyer we found inside the Town Plan box or stand alone sets released in 1958. We need another three or so buildings to complete the town, so we'll search for promotional material from the 1950s and 1960s to see if we can find inspiration.
